Takes on Licks & Brains
The impressive repertoire of Licks & Brains once again comes to life. The eighteen-piece band delivers an irresistible mix of brass, electronic grooves and the adventurous playing of Vloeimans. The result: a musical journey that moves between jazz, afrofunk, minimal music, soul, funk and dance. “With Vloeimans’ compositions, we explore new musical paths that other big bands usually do not venture into.” It is no wonder that the members of Licks & Brains are highly enthusiastic about this renewed collaboration.
Eric Vloeimans has received numerous awards and has performed at prestigious events. His music connects genres and people, from Kyteman to King Willem-Alexander. With his unique style and warm stage presence, he knows how to reach a wide audience. “I make music for millions, and I want to reach them all,” says Vloeimans.
The eighteen-piece big band Licks & Brains blends jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop and Latin into an energetic and danceable mix. Under the direction of Rolf Delfos, one of the Netherlands’ finest alto saxophonists, the band sounds like a big band in the style of New Cool Collective, but with a contemporary twist in which pop, club grooves and old-school funk come together. The band works with live loops and licks, making each performance a unique spectacle. Licks & Brains has previously collaborated with, among others, Ntjam Rosie, Joseph Bowie and Kraak & Smaak.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
