Guyland
Guyland is a humorous performance about why men refuse to grow up. About the designer of the climbing frame, who in his artistic freedom has completely overlooked the user‑friendliness of the play structure. About the municipal civil servant, whose attention is on crypto and muscle mass rather than on the job. About the intern, who mainly thinks about potential and the Cito test. And the event manager, and only woman, is called out for a lack of maternal instinct. They seek distraction in lame jokes and Happy Meals. But time is running out. Who makes the sacrifice?
Comic scenes and quiet moments alternate in Guyland. In a hilarious way, the characters reconstruct what went wrong and who is to blame. And the question that remains is: are these men spoilt boys, or are they in a fundamental identity crisis?
Buysse & Joosten consists of actor Emma Buysse and director Luna Joosten. Together they write sharp, up‑tempo texts that question the spirit of the times. Their humorous and absurd style offers a critical reflection on the millennial generation. In colourful sets we see hyper‑aware characters struggling with the question: how do I become a good young person in the present day? Previously they created, among others, the acclaimed performances Crybaby and Meta‑moe. Now, with their fifth performance Guyland, they dive into the world of toxic masculinity and the Peter Pan syndrome.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
