More than the boys could ever have imagined. During their break‑in attempt, it turns out that the lock has been replaced and the codes do not work at night. In an attempt to save their plan, they sneak to the house of the bank manager to obtain the correct codes. But these too only work in the early morning. And so they stay. The entire night. What follows is a tense psychological cat‑and‑mouse game in which it becomes increasingly unclear who is actually in control.

Het uur van de waarheid is the debut production by the brand-new theatre collective Nieuw Amsterdam, comprising Achraf Koutet, Daniël Kolf, Bilal El Aoumari and Gover Meit. Through new stories and different perspectives, Nieuw Amsterdam aims to explore ways of reimagining the past, present and future of the Netherlands. The name Nieuw Amsterdam not only refers to the historical name of New York, but also serves as a nod to the city’s established theatre companies.
