Supertalent Laura van der Heijden
Cellist Laura van der Heijden is a star on the English music firmament – and far beyond. Born in Great Britain, with a Dutch father, she made her breakthrough at the age of fifteen as BBC Young Musician of the Year. Her performance is praised for its intensity and dedication. NRC described it as ‘mesmerizing and uncompromising’.
Now she is a guest with Philzuid for a captivating interpretation of Walton's Cello Concerto. This breathtaking work, which she also recorded with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra for her critically acclaimed album, expresses Walton's deep longing for eternal love.
Equally emotional is Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony ‘Pathétique’. Chief conductor Duncan Ward and Philzuid dive wholeheartedly into this extraordinary symphony, which is full of drama, passion, and melancholy. An evening of mesmerizing music that touches your soul.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
