Mary Jane

Verkoop v.a. 23 May 12:00 uur
Single mother Mary Jane cares for her chronically ill little boy Alex. Their life is surrounded by beeping monitors, sleepless nights, hospital visits and many worries.

It is heavy and lonely, but Mary Jane is strong and maintains herself with full dedication in their daily reality. Gradually she meets women in her surroundings and a community arises in which she finds support. And although everyone in her network has their own challenges and problems, one thing remains central: caring for another. Regardless of your beliefs or motives, because that is what friends do: being strong together.

Mary Jane is a performance about resilience, unconditional care, love and humanity. It is a semi‑autobiographical play by the American writer Amy Herzog. She drew inspiration for the story from personal experiences in caring for her sick daughter. Mary Jane was nominated in 2024 for a Tony Award in the category Best Play.
