Boy George & Culture Club
During the Music Film Festival, our Studio is transformed into a cinema. The festival is entirely dedicated to music, featuring documentaries, feature films and music videos from every genre. From classical to schlager, and from pop to rap and Dutch-language music. In our Studio, you can watch the documentary about the unprecedented success of the British pop group Culture Club and their iconic frontman Boy George.
Boy George & Culture Club takes you into the turbulent story of one of the biggest and most colourful pop bands of the 1980s. Director Alison Ellwood explores the unique mix of global hits, creative tensions and the intense love affair between frontman Boy George and drummer Jon Moss, which for years formed the heart of both the band and its music.
Through candid interviews, archive footage and, of course, a soundtrack featuring timeless classics such as Karma Chameleon, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Church of the Poison Mind, the documentary shows how Culture Club grew from an unconventional London club band into a global pop phenomenon.
A fascinating portrait of fame, love and a musical legacy that remains as vibrant as ever. It is also an honest film about drive and ambition, and how these led to countless conflicts within the band.
