Nora is based on the play of the same name by the Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen from 1879. Now, almost 150 years later, it is more topical than ever. Because although emancipation is progressing and women are gaining an increasingly better place in society, a growing group of men longs for conservative male‑female relations. And that while the traditional family is no longer self‑evident.
Sarah Sluimer is a columnist and previously wrote the performance En ze maakte een kind. With Nora she addresses the current tensions in women’s emancipation. Judith Noyons and Waldemar Torenstra portray the roles of Nora and her husband Torvald Helmer. A penetrating and confrontational performance about how role patterns can suffocate people.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
