FAREWELL is a pop-up exhibition and a unique movement performance about the celebration of life and death, presented by Tafel van Vijf Muziektheater and Museum Tot Zover. Performance artist Perry Gits, under the final direction of Dionne Verwey, continues his exploration of loss and farewell with a special focus on texture, temperature, and time.
Influenced by fashion, the club scene, and live music, FAREWELL places the audience in a specially designed immersive environment with a Claywalk—a catwalk made of earth and clay—where you step into a coming-of-age story alongside Perry: a journey towards a new beginning.
The live music from Phantom Wizard and Azubike Onwuka, with compositions by Arakaza and Nawaz, engages in a direct dialogue with the dance. As Perry moves, the musicians improvise, and vice versa—a nearly symbiotic encounter between sound and body.
Perry Gits invites you to come dressed in red and black, inspired by Ghanaian mourning rituals where black symbolizes sadness and grief, and red represents the intensity and emotional pain of loss. Thus, we share a sense of connection and link old and new rituals.
FAREWELL can be seen in Tilburg as part of a special collaboration with Museum Tot Zover. This edition offers a unique opportunity to experience Perry’s award-winning work up close in an intimate setting. Immerse yourself in a performance that brings together fashion, music, and movement, inviting you to reflect on life, death, and everything in between.
