A Flor do Recomeço
Salvador Sobral, winner of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest representing Portugal, is coming to Concertzaal Tilburg as part of his new European tour. During this concert he presents his latest album A Flor do Recomeço.
For this special project, Sobral drew his inspiration entirely from Brazilian music. The album consists exclusively of new repertoire by leading Brazilian composers, written especially for him. Among them are major names such as Adriana Calcanhotto, Arnaldo Antunes, Chico César, Céu, Marcelo Camelo, Mallu Magalhães, Marcos Valle and Tim Bernardes. The title A Flor do Recomeço is taken from a poem by Eveline Sin, set to music by Chico César.
The album was recorded in São Paulo and for Sobral represents a personal return to his musical roots.
‘I am absolutely convinced that music was born in Brazil. I grew up with Maria Bethânia in my mother’s car and Chico César at my father’s home. This album arises from the need to return to that origin and to further explore the timeless sounds of this side of the Atlantic Ocean.’
Together with a top band of Brazilian musicians, including Tiago Costa, Fábio Sá, Conrado Goys, Sergio Machado and Felipe Roseno, Sobral consciously searched for authenticity. Not imitation, but an individual and sincere approach to this music.
The result is a warm, cohesive and refined album that fully comes to life in a live setting. In Concertzaal Tilburg, Salvador Sobral presents this new music with the intimacy, musicality and emotional depth for which he is internationally acclaimed.
