During this XL edition of the Science Café Tilburg, two experts share the lessons we have learned from the coronavirus crisis. Marion Koopmans (Erasmus MC Rotterdam) offers a glimpse into the virologist’s world and how insights from science are used to combat outbreaks. Can virus outbreaks be prevented? And above all: are we better prepared for the next virus? Bart Berden (Chairman of the Board of the Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital) shows how difficult it is to come up with good solutions when the crisis is still in full swing. What are the consequences of the emphasis placed on the medical domain, with R-values and ICU admissions? And have we achieved the strong ambition of ‘returning to normal’?

The Science Café XL will, just like the regular Science Cafés, open with a specially written song by house musician WiWa. In addition, Michiel Cremers (including Springtij and CRMRS) will perform. This musician himself suffered from long COVID and wrote the song Brain Fog about it.
