The Kik were founded in Rotterdam around 2012. With their retro sound, steeped in sixties influences and Dutch‑language lyrics full of humour and poetry, they carved out a unique place in the Dutch music landscape. Several albums and sold‑out venues followed. Frontman Dave von Raven grew into one of the most recognisable voices of his generation.

The band also proves to be highly capable beyond its own songwriting. The Kik Hertaalt (2017), a tribute to Dutch‑language classics, was widely embraced. With The Kik Hertaalt Eurovisie (2022) they showed they can bend any genre to their will, with characteristic flair and without an excess of winks.

Now they put on the collarless jacket for their greatest example. The question had followed them for years: “Don’t you do Beatles songs in Dutch?” The answer was always ‘no’ — until now. The performance focuses on the early work of The Beatles, from 1962 to 1966. No nostalgic imitation of the studio recordings, but sharp, idiosyncratic and with a deep love for the song.
