On 6 December, Tom America will appear for a one-off performance at Concertzaal Tilburg with Someone with So Little Talent (Iemand met zo weinig talent): a unique evening at the intersection of concert, talk show, performance and musical journey of discovery, which will not be seen anywhere else. Tilburg is not merely the setting for this event; it is the city where America laid the foundations of his artistic practice at art school, making it the only place where this story could logically be told.

The title is taken from a remark by a former fellow student, who openly wondered how someone without obvious virtuoso talent had managed to develop such a distinctive and influential voice. That question, how individuality can sometimes achieve more than technical perfection, forms the heart of the performance.

Through music, conversations, memories, archive material and live performances, the audience is taken on a journey through defining moments in America’s career. From his Limburg roots and his time at art school in Tilburg, to his pioneering work with MAM, his social projects, his love of poetry, and his affinity with artists and musicians such as Robert Wyatt, Henny Vrienten and Henk Hofstede.

Presenter Marcel Vanthilt will guide the evening, while various guests contribute their own perspectives to the story of Tom America. Contributors to this special event include Gé Reinders, Henk Hofstede (NITS), Paul Bogaers, Plonki, Delphine Lecompte, Pieter Bon, Antoine Kroes, Aron Raams, Gersom Raams, and other musical guests.

Someone with So Little Talent is not a tour, a revival or a regular performance, but a one-off event taking place exclusively in Tilburg.
