In a small village in Northern France, Eddy grows up. A gentle, sensitive boy in a world that is mostly tough and ruthless. He is different from the children around him. His demeanor, his voice, even his walk bring a lot of humiliation. Not only at school but also at home, no one understands him. His alcoholic father and bossy mother want him to behave like a 'normal' boy. But no matter how hard he tries, Eddy never really fits into that picture.

Director Eline Arbo brings the poignant story of Édouard Louis to the stage. Together with four actors who all step into Eddy's shoes, she transforms the autobiographical novel Weg met Eddy Bellegueule into a musical theater hit. Together, they tell the life story of Eddy: a homosexual boy in a homophobic environment.

The performance does not let you go. From Eddy's attempts to fit in to his struggle with who he really is. Can he break free from his stifling environment?

Eline Arbo won the VSCD directing award with this production, and Weg met Eddy Bellegueule was immediately selected for the Dutch Theater Festival. The cast was nominated for the Louis d’Or. That says enough: you want to see this.
