A suitcase is travelling across the Netherlands. What could be inside it? Perhaps clothes, money, a book or colouring pencils, flowers, toys or even a living being. It could be anything. No! The suitcase is empty… The accordion that once sat inside is gone. But luckily, the music remains. And each melody tells a different story about the vanished accordion.
With recycled materials, inventive homemade mechanisms and music, the suitcase comes to life. Before your eyes, small worlds emerge with playing dogs, dancing cassette tapes and astonished owls. In no time at all, you start to care about a few pieces of wood or a rusty pan scrub.
Theatre maker and performer Ruta van Hoof takes children, parents and grandparents along in the story. Using everyday objects, she creates imaginative worlds you can completely lose yourself in. Het Koffertje is accessible and interactive, forming an emotional connection between people and objects — about losing, longing and being found again.
