Igone de Jongh, the Netherlands’ leading prima ballerina, enjoyed a distinguished career with, among others, the Dutch National Ballet, where she began as an Élevè, performed numerous principal roles and became the acclaimed muse of Hans van Manen.

Over the past two years, she has created three major original productions and served as artistic director of the United Ukrainian Ballet Company. Igone’s life has revolved around ballet since childhood. After a career of more than 25 years, she responds with this masterclass to the request to share her personal experiences and knowledge with the audience.

In Masterclass, Igone coaches various pupils live in mastering major classical repertoire, after which the pupils perform the piece, accompanied by live piano. Through video fragments, quotes and an interview, we come to know Igone more closely in this masterclass—as a person, a dancer and a coach.
