Bach in the Dark
Bach in the Dark is part of Happy Bachdag; exact times and the full programme will follow later.
Listen to Bach as you rarely hear him: without distraction, in complete darkness. During Bach in the Dark, everything you would normally see fades into the background. In a darkened Concert Hall, you listen only with your ears and your imagination.
Marsyas Baroque performs a programme of forty minutes in which space and sound flow into one another. You hear lively dances, moments of stillness, plaintive lines and virtuoso passages that take on a different quality in the dark. Without a view of the stage, you listen more intently to every note and every turn in the music.
The programme includes, among others, the Trio Sonata in G major BWV 1039, solo movements and excerpts from The Art of Fugue BWV 1080 and The Musical Offering BWV 1079.
In a time when stimuli come at you from all sides, Bach in the Dark is an invitation to be alone with the music for a while.
