How often, as a parent, have you had to watch improvised playback performances by your offspring? Even before they can walk, they already know the “signature moves” of Beyoncé. Or they sing along phonetically to hits by the Sugababes. How is it that something aimed at a teenage audience already proves so irresistibly attractive to the very youngest?
Pops of the Top is a playback concert about extremes and, discreetly, also a history lesson and an ode to the classic girl band. We follow three pop stars in their attempt to appear adult, harmonious and cool. But how do you do that when it turns out your audience consists mainly of three-year-olds? What if reality does not coincide with what you had hoped or expected? And why does there always have to be someone doing a solo?
Pops of the Top is a virtuously lip-synced slapstick concert for the whole family, ages 3 and up. About ups and downs. The best and the worst. About tops and flops. A visual, humorous and musical performance with many potential hits, complications, and a beginning, a middle and an end.
