Ballet Vibes
Three of these new works are created by promising young choreographers: Zoë Greten, Luca Abdel-Nour and Rutkay Özpinar. Each has a different cultural background, creates a highly individual and fascinating world, and knows exactly how to connect with the experience and imagination of the young Junior Company dancers.
Diverse dance styles
In doing so, the three draw on a wide range of dance styles – including contemporary dance, hip-hop and Turkish dance. At the same time, it is essential for the development of the Junior Company dancers that they also master pure classical ballet technique. They are given this opportunity in a new creation by Ernst Meisner. As they are, too, in the second part of Concerto, a serene yet demanding pas de deux by Sir Kenneth MacMillan.
Hilarious ‘crash course’
The combination of humour and dance does not come naturally. There are only a few choreographers who truly master this art. But Hans van Manen and Eric Gauthier succeed with flying colours. We present Gauthier’s Ballet 102 for the first time, the successor to Ballet 101, his hilarious ‘crash course into ballet’. The evening concludes with Van Manen’s In the Future. A sparkling blockbuster, in which the grand master conjures with colour, bodies, humour and ingenuity.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
