The Current
The production brings the physical and cultural codes of club culture to the stage and approaches raving as a way of expressing resistance and freedom through the body. In an electronic environment, the performers construct a night in which pain, trauma and exclusion are left behind on the dance floor. They move towards liberation and a shared release.
NITE actor and singer Sarah Janneh interprets texts by South African author Ronelda S. Kamfer. Live percussion and electronic music by producer Max Frimout and Stanislav Tolkachev together form an intense soundscape.
In an immersive installation by Boris Acket, the audience moves through a dynamic labyrinth of spaces where dancers, musicians and spectators come together. This creates an experience in which individuality and collective movement are in constant tension.
The Current resonates with the present moment, in which everyone is searching for stability and position. Do you remain where you are, or do you allow yourself to be carried along by the group?
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
