The Efteling celebrates its 75th anniversary, and this will be marked on a grand scale in Dutch theatres with an enchanting dance spectacle by master choreographer Ed Wubbe (known for TING! and Oscar). Darkride is an ode to the child within yourself, inviting you to follow your feelings and be carried away into the World of Wonders. Do you give in to the fear of the unknown, or do you step in with the openness of a child?

Darkride takes the audience on an exciting journey full of wonder and imagination, set to the iconic music of the Efteling. Led by a mysterious magician, a colourful company of dancers and acrobats travels through worlds in which nothing is what it seems. Escape the madness of everyday life and descend into an enchanting dimension: strange, yet familiar. A world in which everything can change in an instant. At times grotesque and dangerous, then again moving, poetic and dreamlike. This thrilling journey moves from darkness to light, through ever-changing scenes and emotions.

Composer René Merkelbach, known for the music for the attractions Raveleijn and Danse Macabre, arranged the music of the Efteling especially for this performance. Vocal artist Luca Warmer adds extra colour to the music with her unique sound and leads the audience by the hand on this fascinating journey. On stage are the finest dancers and acrobats of the Netherlands, brought together especially for this performance by choreographer Ed Wubbe.
